- ★ ★ ★ ★ ★Oakland Strokes is an amazing junior rowing program. I rowed here for 3 years in high school and it taught me about responsibility, fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Boy was I glad I was cut from the football team or else I never would have started this sport. This organization changed my life and today I give back by being a Board Member at the Strokes. It's amazing to see how much this group has grown since I was a kid rowing here, and I am especially proud of their outreach programs in the Oakland area. Let's get more kids rowing! We also have Adaptive Rowing coming down the pipeline, something I am particularly excited about. You could not go wrong sending your kid here.By John Heylin, April 04, 2017
